Time to Get Off the Diet Roller Coaster?

When you decide to finally get rid of their excess weight the first thing to start thinking about is making changes and focusing on what you eat, how you think, how you move and developing healthy habits not finding the newest diet pill or fad diet to help you lose 20 pounds in 10 days!!

The diet roller coaster syndrome affects some 40% of men and 70% of women.  Dieters whether first time or veterans often fall victim to an unhealthy cycle of starve and gorge and a lifetime of roller coaster dieting.  You can get off the ride when you begin to have 3 balanced meals and 2 snacks each day evenly spaced throughout the day.  This lifestyle change will help you achieve sustainable weight lose as you lose excess weight and fat and begin to feel healthier and better about yourself.

Too many American are on the diet roller coaster – high when the weight comes off and plummeting to varied lows when the weight returns. These high and lows leave us lacking self love and self esteem. Do you know this feeling?  It begins when you starve your body, obtain temporary weight loss and ultimately gain the weight back, plus a few extra unwanted pounds. This roller coaster dieting can often contribute to  eating disorders.

Generally these types of diets have you burning some fat but more often you lose your lean muscle tissue making it more difficult to reach sustainable weight loss not just today but for years to come.  It’s not  realistic to think starving or any extreme unbalanced diet will result in healthy permanent weight loss. What is realistic is that when you make just a few lifestyle changes the fat will reduce and usually stay off forever.

Here are 7 simple tips you can easily include in your lifestyle to help you lose weight, body fat and finally get off the dieting roller coaster.

1. Eat a balance breakfast with a good source of protein & one serving of carbohydrates.
2. Eat every 3-4 hours. Skipping meals slows down your metabolism and sabotages your efforts.
3.
Eliminate high fat dairy products like cheese, whole milk, sour cream and yogurts.
4.
Monitor your carbohydrate intake. Too many carbs may get you into trouble.
5.
Never, never eat sugar before going to bed.
6.
Water is your friend.    Drink a minimum of 80 ounces of pure water each day.
7.
Say NO to all fried foods.

If you developed bad eating habits from childhood you are not alone.  Don’t hold on to that as an excuse. Today you are an adult and can easily made adult decisions and change those habits. Today you can keep a log of what you eat each day and review your habits.  You’ll soon find ways you can cut back and make real lifestyle changes.  It is these lifestyle changes that will give you long lasting results.  Leave the roller coaster at the amusement park.  When you recognize and understand your obstacles you can soon overcome them.
